What:  4th of July Celebration

When:  Wednesday, July 4th

Where:  Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 270 Main, Pleasant Plains (across from Jerry’s)

What Else:  There will be free burgers and hot dogs, games for everyone and ending with fireworks, weather permitting. 

 

What:  Ozark Woodland Owners Board of Directors Meeting

When:  Thursday, July 5th, 8:30am

Where:  County Cooperative Extension Office, 1770 Meyer Street, Batesville

 

What: 26th Annual Cousins and Friends Reunion

When: Saturday July 7th at 10:00am

Where: 1st Baptist Church of Cherokee Village, Family Life Center(South Entrance)

What Else: This year’s reunion is dedicated to the memory of Cliff Martin and Gwelda Estes Gibson. Finger foods/snacks all day, music, auction and bingo. Everyone is asked to bring an item for the auction and bingo. 870-966-4012.

 

What: Summer Art Camp

When: Saturday, June 23rd at 10:00-11:30am

Where: Jackson County Library, Newport

What Else: Totally free and all supplies are provided.  For ages 6-9.

What:  ‘Amazing Wonders Aviation’ Vacation Bible School

When:  Monday, July 9th through Friday July 13th

Where:  Calvary Baptist Church, 18th and Lyon, Batesville

What Else:  Free supper beginning at 5:30pm each evening.  VBS will begin promptly at 6pm and conclude at 8:15pm.  Children age 3 through 6th grade (just completed) are invited.  For transportation or more information, call 870-793-5480.

When:  Friday, June 1st through Saturday, July 28th

Where:  Independence County Library, 368 East Main Street, Batesville

What Else:  Preschoolers through 6th graders are welcome to join and pledge to read library books this summer.  Receive a prize every week for reading books, and receive a certificate and a grand prize at the end of the program.  Be sure to attend Story Hour each Tuesday, too.  Preschoolers come at 10am and grade schoolers come at 2pm for an hour of stories, videos, crafts and even some live performances.  For more information, call 870-793-8814

When: Tuesday, August 7th form 6-8 or Thursday, august 9th from 6-8 for tryouts. Finals are Saturday September 8th at 6pm

Where: Tryouts are at UACCB/Independence Hall and Finals are at Riverside Park

What Else: Limited to 30 acts each tryout night. Applications are at any First Community Bank location or online at www.firstcommunity.net  Bring applications with you the night you try out.
