What:  Batesville Choral Society Rehearsal

When:  Monday, August 27th, 7-9pm

Where:  First Presbyterian Church chorus room, 775 East Boswell

What Else:  Ms. Karen Graham is the director and Mr. Russell Stinson serves as accompanist.  This year the Vivaldi Gloria will be the main piece for the Christmas concert scheduled for Friday, December 7th, at Lyon College.  The group is welcoming all interested singers, both new members and former members.  No audition is required, only an interest in learning and performing quality choral music.  For more information, contact Alice Witterman, secretary, at 870-793-5928.

 

What:  Measure the Candidates

When:  Thursday, August 30th, 6pm

Where:  Sharp County Fairgrounds

What Else:  The meeting will be open to the public, for anyone who wants an opportunity to meet the candidates for the upcoming election and an opportunity for the candidates to share their views on the important issues.

 

What:  Benefit Yard Sale

When:  Friday, August 31st and Saturday, September 1st, 7am

Where:  Cushman Fire Department

What Else:  Clothing will be $1 a bag.  Lots of stuff.  Proceeds go to a family in need.

 

What:  Thank U-2! Celebration

When:  Saturday, September 1st, 5-7pm

Where:  Across the street from Oil Trough United Methodist Church

What Else:  Featuring ‘New Creation’ of Melbourne.  Bring your friends, family, lawn chairs, appetite and singing voice for this evening of gospel music as they honor all those who helped in rebuilding the Oil Trough Community Center.  There will be hot dogs, cold drinks, homemade desserts and great gospel music as they praise God and fellowship in his name.  For more information, contact Pastor Rob Ernest at 870-307-2712.

What:  Rubber Ducky Regatta Benefit

When:  Saturday, September 8th, 5:30pm

Where:  White River Bridge/Riverside Park, Batesville

What Else:  Ducky’s are $10 and are available now at Liberty Bank on Main Street in Batesville.  The first 3 ducky’s to cross the finish line will win prizes with first place to be a Bad Boy Mower.  Proceeds to benefit uninsured adults at Christian Health Center of Batesville.

 

What:  2012 Summer and Regular Crisis Intervention Program

When:  Monday, July 9th through Sunday, September 30th or until funds are depleted

                Monday through Wednesday, 8am-11:30pm

Where:  Northcentral Arkansas Development Council, Inc., Batesville

What Else:  For applicants to be considered in a crisis situation, they are required to have received a shut-off notice from their energy supplier with a shut-off notice date to be within 7 days from the date of application.  This will be for ELECTRIC ONLY.  The following are requirements needed before applications can be taken and processed:  1. Proof of income for all household members for the previous month, including verification of any contributions from family and friends.  Applications stating income is zero must provide written statement verifying how they pay their bills.  2. Information on the date and place of current or last employment for all household members.  Any member 18 or older without a job must provide verification of unemployment.  3. Proof of child support being received.  4. Proof of utility assistance if applicant received subsidized housing.  5. A copy of an energy bill or receipt from energy supplier.
