What:  ‘Go Deep with God:  It’s Operation Overboard’ Vacation Bible School

When:  Tuesday, July 31st through Friday, August 3rd, 6-8pm

Where:  Hazel Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church, Newark

What Else:  For ages 3 through 6th grade.   All children must be registered by an adult.  For more information, call 870-307-2712.

 

What:  Weekend Revival

When:  Friday, August 3rd, 7pm and Saturday, August 4th, 11am

What Else:  Totally free and all supplies are provided.  For ages 6 to 9.

 

What:  ‘Brace Before Impact’ Concert Fundraiser

When:  Saturday, August 4th, 1pm

Where:  St. Joe Community Center, 555 West 374 West, ¾ mile on left

What Else:  There will be live music, free food, drinks and door prizes.  The entry fee is $5 and will benefit City of St. Joe projects.  For more information, call 870-439-2012.

When:  Sunday through Tuesday, August 5th through 7th, 6pm nightly

Where:  Southside United Methodist Church

When: Tuesday, August 7th form 6-8 or Thursday, august 9th from 6-8 for tryouts. Finals are Saturday September 8th at 6pm

Where: Tryouts are at UACCB/Independence Hall and Finals are at Riverside Park

What Else: Limited to 30 acts each tryout night. Applications are at any First Community Bank location or online at www.firstcommunity.net  Bring applications with you the night you try out.

What Else:  Totally free and all supplies are provided.  For ages 6 to 9.

 

What:  Open Fall Enrollment for HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters)

What Else:  Enroll now for HIPPY.  HIPPY is a free, at-home education program for children aged 2 (if the child will be 3 by Dec. 31st), 3, 4 and 5 (if the child turns 5 after Aug. 1st).  Parents are provided free educational materials, books and supplies to work with their child at home to help lay the foundation for kindergarten.  Even if your child is in a preschool program, you may qualify for HIPPY.  For Sharp and Lawrence County, call 870-886-3212 or for Independence County, call 870-251-4024.

What:  2012 Summer and Regular Crisis Intervention Program

When:  Monday, July 9th through Sunday, September 30th or until funds are depleted

                Monday through Wednesday, 8am-11:30pm

Where:  Northcentral Arkansas Development Council, Inc., Batesville

What Else:  For applicants to be considered in a crisis situation, they are required to have received a shut-off notice from their energy supplier with a shut-off notice date to be within 7 days from the date of application.  This will be for ELECTRIC ONLY.  The following are requirements needed before applications can be taken and processed:  1. Proof of income for all household members for the previous month, including verification of any contributions from family and friends.  Applications stating income is zero must provide written statement verifying how they pay their bills.  2. Information on the date and place of current or last employment for all household members.  Any member 18 or older without a job must provide verification of unemployment.  3. Proof of child support being received.  4. Proof of utility assistance if applicant received subsidized housing.  5. A copy of an energy bill or receipt from energy supplier.
