What:  American Red Cross Blood Drive

When:  Wednesday, April 10th, 12noon-6pm

Where:  Batesville High School, 1 School Road, Batesville

What Else:  To schedule a donation or for more information, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit  All blood types are needed.  A blood donor card or drivers license or 2 other forms of identification are required.  Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.  High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.


What:  ‘Fly Me A Dream’ Concert

When:  Thursday, April 11th, 7:30pm

Where:  Bevens Music Room, Brown Chapel, Lyon College, 2300 Highland Dr, Batesville

What:  Izard County Historical and Genealogical Society Meeting

When:  Sunday, April 14th, 2pm

Where:  Izard County Senior Citizens Center, Highway 9, south of Brockwell

What Else:  Mr. Russell Baker will present a program titled ‘The Blue and the Gray:  Searching for Civil War Ancestors’.  Mr. Baker is a well know archivist, historian and lecturer of Arkansas history.  Retired from the Arkansas History Commission and State Archives in Little Rock, he is the author of several historical and genealogical publications.


What:  34th Annual Arkansas Scottish Festival

When:  Friday, April 12th through Sunday, April 14th

Where:  Lyon College, 2300 Highland Drive, Batesville

What Else:  Free admission.  The Arkansas Scottish Festival celebrates Lyon’s Presbyterian and Scottish roots.  A Celtic concert will be held Friday night.  The opening ceremony Saturday will feature the Parade of Clans and Bands.  Festival highlights include competitions for pipe bands, individual bagpipers, drummers, dancers and Scottish athletes, sheepdog demonstrations, Scottish food, Celtic music and a traditional feast and Ceilidh on Saturday night.  For more information, call 870-307-7473 or visit


What:  6th Annual Threads of Life Quilt and Fiber Arts Show

When:  Saturday, April 13th, 9am-4pm and Sunday, April 14th, 1-4pm

Where:  St. Bernards Auditorium, 505 East Washington, Jonesboro

What:  Gun and Knife Show

What Else:  Over 90 tables of guns and knives.  One of the largest shows in Northcentral Arkansas.  All proceeds from this twice yearly event are used to purchase firefighting and medical equipment for the Timbo Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders.  For more information, call 870-746-4349.
